Exchanging Ideas

IAGLCWDC Forums & Seminars

(because none of us is as smart as all of us!)

Among other purposes, the IAGLCWDC exists to:
  • provide a forum for the exchange of ideas among the member clubs
  • support and encourage the growth of its membership
  • improve communication among the member clubs

One of the greatest benefits of belonging to the IAGLCWDC is the chance to attend our conventions and meet with other people like ourselves who are involved in bringing country-western dancing to our communities. Don’t miss the excellent opportunities that our conventions provide to meet with (and learn from) your counterparts from around the world!!

For further information regarding our various idea-exchange programs, contact the IAGLCWDC Convention Director.

Share your experience!! Learn from your peers!!

Are you involved in organizing or running your club? Are you a club treasurer or webmaster? Is your club planning a hoedown or special event? Do you DJ or teach dancing for your club (or do you work with your club DJs or instructors?)

If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you should plan to attend one or more of the following “Forum” meetings at one of our twice-annual conventions!

Club Officers' (and Board Members’) Forum: meet other club presidents, VPs, treasurers, and board members. How do you raise money for your clubs? How do you solicit and manage volunteers? Do you need liability insurance? Have you registered as a 501(c)3 non-profit? Share your experience and learn from others’ best practices!

Treasurer's Forum: club treasurers have a particularly challenging role: juggling the official books of the organization, fulfilling the legal requirements imposed by tax authorities including filing the annual tax paperwork, keeping the organization’s bills paid and checkbooks balanced, etc. Here’s your chance to meet with other club treasurers and learn how they’ve solved the same kinds of problems that you’ve been struggling with!

Webmasters' Forum: Does your club’s website use the latest and niftiest technology, or are you loping along in the twentieth century? Do you have adequate protection against hackers? Do you have a plan for disaster recovery (or even just for content backups)? Meet your fellow webmasters and share the tales of your battles with the internet!

Convention (and Hoedown) Planning Forum: meet with others who are planning hoedowns and conventions, as well as with those who’ve planned successful events in the past. Bring your best ideas and your hardest questions!

DJs' Forum: meet your fellow club DJs from around the world. What music is filling your dance floor? How do you get new music? How do you handle requests? How do you keep track of all that music? Where did they get that cool remix they played last night? Come meet your fellow DJs and compare notes!

Instructors' Forum: meet your fellow dance instructors and share your best practices. What makes great instructors great, and how can we be more like them? Discuss this and other topics with dance instructors from around the world!
